The couple, who embarked on a real-life romance in 2006 after meeting on the set of the Disney hit, have split, E! Online reported.
Hudgens, who turns 22 on Tuesday, and Efron, 23, broke up recently, according to the site's sources, and are still on friendly terms.
"It's nothing dramatic," a source said. "There's no third party involved."

A second source confirmed that the relationship ended, noting "it just ran its course."
In Details' September issue, Efron admitted friends have encouraged him to use his fame to get women instead of remaining in a long-term relationship.
"I think a lot of guys would enjoy that. But I'm not really like that," he said. "Believe me, I rack my brain thinking, 'Why am I not out there playing the field?'... But it's not in my heart."
Efron also insisted that rumors about the romance – that it was purely for business and publicity, and a cover for the actor's alleged homosexuality, etc. – are "f—king insane."
