Defensive Driving Tips - About 50,000 people die each year in the United States from traffic accidents. Good defensive driving techniques help to prepare the driver for any situation. A good defensive driver always assumes the worst situation and prepares for it. Not getting caught unprepared can help assure the driver and his passengers a safe passage to their destination. Paying attention to the road is an obvious point to be made, but the lack of this advice is one of the leading causes of car accidents. A common statement is that most car accidents happen within five miles of the driver's home. Why is this? Some say that this is due to the driver being in comfortable surroundings.
