XM25 Weapon System - XM25 sounds like a radio program, but in reality it’s the newest weapon of choice for the US troops fighting against the Taliban. This gun hits targets from 2300 ft away using 25mm grenades using high tech sensors, lasers and sights. It has a far more advanced accuracy and range than previous grenade weapons. The ammunition is micro-chipped so the soldiers can seek out their enemies hiding behind walls. According to Popfi.com, “This is the first time we’re putting smart technology into the hands of the individual soldier,” said project manager Lieutenant Colonel Chris Lehner. ”It’s giving them the edge. You get behind something when someone is shooting at you, and that sort of cover has protected people for thousands of years. Now we’re taking that away from the enemy forever.” XM25 Weapon System
