Boy Drowns in Manure Pit - A Central Pennsylvania family is mourning the loss of a 4-year-old boy named Josiah Martin after he somehow managed to infiltrate a fenced-in manure pit on the family's farm. 4-year-old Josiah Martin was enjoying a morning of play on his family's farm with his two siblings and a neighbor's child early Saturday when he wandered off, making his way to the family's fenced-off, 8-foot-deep manure pit. Somehow penetrating the barrier, little Josiah tragically drowned in the manure pit. Boy Drowns in Manure Pit Police say Josiah was found face-down in the pit and was immediately pronounced dead at the scene. It was unclear Monday why the children were left to play unsupervised. According to the Associated Press, Officer Troy Deshong says Josiah's mother thinks the boy may have come across the manure pit in his attempts to "retrieve a dog."
