Snow Causes School Delays - Overnight snow with forecasts of more to come were slowing the morning commute Monday and causing school delays and closings across the region. The Pittsburgh Public Schools were among the districts operating on a 2-hour delay. Others, such as Albert Gallatin and Laurel Highlands in Fayette County, are closed for the day. A winter weather advisory is in effect for southwestern Pennsylvania until 7 a.m. Tuesday, but locations to the east and north will be hit harder. In Pittsburgh and nearby suburban areas, lake effect snow, coupled with winds that could gust to 30 mph, will cause hazardous travel conditions.
