Fracking Creates A Stir

Fracking Creates A Stir - Residents of Lake Township heard a rather upsetting news this Wednesday when Supervisor Amy Salansky announced after a township meeting that the residents will have to face even louder noises in the days to come due to fracking. She told the media that EnCana Oil and Gas has already started the process on the land which is owned by her and her husband. The process of fracking involves forcing large amount of water mixed with chemicals and sand to force the natural gas out. Amy Salansky said that EnCana has confirmed that they will only frack during the day. She also said that the truck traffic in the area of the Salanksy Well off Zosh road will increase as fracking requires a lot of fresh water which will be carried in trucks to the location. She also said that she could not confirm the exact number of trucks as EnCana had ‘downsized’ on the horizontal drilling. She added that they drilled only 2500 feet instead of the expected 6000 but she was not sure of ...

Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore Ravens - Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed walked out of the locker room with a parting shot late Thursday night. With his luggage in hand, Reed, unprovoked, had a message for the media before exiting the Georgia Dome. "We let them off the hook," Reed said loudly to make sure everyone could hear. "We" was the Ravens' defense, which has been one of the most consistently dominant units of the past decade. "Them" was the Atlanta Falcons, which improved to 7-2 after an exciting -- and some would say controversial -- 26-21 victory over Baltimore (6-3). In what was viewed as a possible Super Bowl preview, neither team disappointed as each club held the lead in the final minute. The difference was the Falcons' last offensive drive, where they marched 80 yards in 45 seconds against a Ravens' defense that had snuffed out those scenarios many times before. A 33-yard touchdown catch by Falcons receiver Roddy White over Ravens cornerback Jos...

Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta Falcons - While it wasn't Atlanta Falcons 2008 NFL 1st Round Draft pick QB Matt Ryan's best statistical game (in BCSsportsweekly photo), that was the 39 to 32 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, the Falcons 26 to 21 win over the AFC Baltimore Ravens at The Georgia Dome in Atlanta was the game many can point to where Ryan came of age. Down by 6 points with just over 1 minute in the game, Ryan directed an 80 yard drive, capped with a 35 yard pass to Falcons Wide Receiver Rodney White for the go-ahead score. The Falcons came in with an excellent game plan that featured quick passes out of shotgun formations, and play action. They threw a whopping 50 times, completing 32, for 316 yards and three touchdowns, against no interceptions. Ryan finished with a quarterback rating of 101.8, and sent a message. For teams that believed they could load up their defense to stop the Falcons ground game, and place the ball in the hands of Ryan, the message was simple: he will beat yo...

Dave Niehaus Hall Of Famer

Dave Niehaus Hall Of Famer - Many of us never met him. But, for years, each night we invited him into our home to share our baseball experience. He rode with us in our cars, keeping us company. He attended family barbecues on warm summer nights. And, last night as each of us heard of his passing, we all felt as though we lost a dear friend. Dave Niehaus, the voice of the Seattle Mariners since the franchise's inception, a man who broadcast over 5000 games and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008, passed away yesterday after suffering a heart attack. He is known for having made so many memorable calls. His calls have become household clichés all over the Pacific Northwest. Mariner fans celebrate a "Grand Salami," or watch fly-balls "Fly Away" over the outfield fence. Some of us express our satisfaction after a great play with a simple "My Oh My." When I think of Dave Niehaus' great, poetic calls, three specific calls sta...
