Violent Supercell Thunderstorm - The National Weather Service confirmed yesterday that a single, low-intensity tornado traversed a path from just east of The Diamond in North Richmond into central Henrico County and the Cold Harbor area of Hanover County late Wednesday afternoon, with wind speeds of 80 to 90 mph. No deaths and only one injury were reported. Weather service officials from Wakefield surveyed the damage yesterday and determined the tornado's path extended 11.5 miles in an east-northeastward direction from about 5 to 5:20 p.m. The tornado's rate of strength was rated an EF0 to an EF1, the firstand second-lowest ratings on a scale of 0 to 5. The weather service said most of the damage was in the form of downed trees and power lines, with some siding and roof damage to homes.
