Elizabeth Edwards Stops Cancer Fight - Former presidential candidate John Edwards is at his estranged wife Elizabeth's side today after doctors told her that her breast cancer has spread to her liver - and that further treatment would be unproductive. Mrs Edwards, who is still married to the two-time U.S. presidential candidate, was moved to her home to be with family and friends after she was hospitalised briefly last week. A friend of the family said in a statement that Edwards, their three children, and other family members were with the 61-year-old at her Chapel Hill, North Carolina home. The statement yesterday said Mrs Edwards was in good spirits, and is not in pain. Yesterday People magazine reported doctors as saying that the breast cancer first diagnosed in 2004 'had metastasised to the liver'.
