Instead of counting calories, like the company has done in the past, Weight Watchers has started taking into account all of the components that make up calories, such as protein, carbohydrates, fat and fiber, which allows people to eat more healthy foods.
“When somebody is holding an apple in one hand and 100-calorie cookies in the other, thinking that the two are equal in points, it says everything isn’t working about counting calories,” said Weight Watchers President David Kirkhoff.
Kirkhoff said the new program leans more toward healthier foods instead of unhealthy fats and refined sugar.
