Johnny Depp Likens Angelina Jolie To Elizabeth Taylor - "Meeting her and getting to know her was a real pleasant surprise," Johnny Depp says of Angelina Jolie. "You don't know what she might be like — if she has any sense of humor at all. I was so pleased to find that she is incredibly normal, and has a wonderfully kind of dark, perverse sense of humor."

Depp chats with Patti Smith for a piece in Vanity Fair about the challenges he and his co-star in The Tourist faced with constant media scrutiny on set. "Poor thing, dogged by paparazzi, her and her husband, Brad. ... all their kids. There are times when you see how ridiculous is this life, how ludicrous it is, you know, leaving your house every morning and being followed by paparazzi."

Depp tells Smith they sometimes had "to hide" to avoid unwarranted speculation—which included "sometimes not even being able to talk to each other in public because someone will take a photograph and it will be misconstrued. ..."

Depp compares Angelina to another famous leading lady. "I've had the honor and the pleasure and gift of having known Elizabeth Taylor for a number of years," he says. "You know, you sit down with her, she slings hash, she sits there and cusses like a sailor, and she's hilarious. Angie's got the same kind of thing, you know, the same approach."

Man Hits Teen on Plane Over iPhone - Police say a man on a Southwest Airlines flight from Las Vegas punched a teenager who refused to turn off his iPhone as the plane approached the Boise airport. Officers arrested 68-year-old Russell E. Miller, of Boise, on suspicion of misdemeanor battery Tuesday. He has been released from jail on bond. Witnesses told police the 15-year-old was playing games and listening to music on his cell phone when flight attendants instructed passengers to turn off their electronic devices because the plane was landing. Witnesses told police that when the teen didn't respond, Miller got angry and punched the boy in the arm. Miller says he "tapped" the teen on the shoulder after he refused to turn off the phone. Contactless Debit Cards - Contactless debit cards will make their formal debut in Canada next year with the launch of Interac Flash from Acxsys Corp.’s Interac Association, Canada’s national debit network. Interac’s first two Flash issuers are Scotiabank and RBC Royal Bank, which will roll out their first contactless cards next summer. The first acquirer is TD Merchant Services, a unit of Toronto-Dominion Bank. More issuers and acquirers are on the way, an Interac spokesperson tells Digital Transactions News, though no announcements have been made yet. Interac and the banks tested Flash this summer at some high-volume, small-ticket merchants in downtown Toronto.
