The Brooke County Board of Education filed a lawsuit against the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission Tuesday, requesting a temporary restraining order that would postpone Saturday's Class AAA high school football championship game between South Charleston High School and Martinsburg High.
The suit also requested the court prohibit the WVSSAC from canceling the championship game altogether.
Brooke Circuit Court conducted a hearing on the suit at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
South Charleston High beat Brooke High School 29-28 in Saturday's Class AAA semifinal game at University of Charleston Stadium at Laidley Field.
A week before, South Charleston players were involved in a fight at the end of a quarterfinal game against Hurricane High. The WVSSAC suspended five players from South Charleston and four from Hurricane after the brawl, requiring the South Charleston players to sit out the Brooke game.
