Porsche announced that the Cajun will open as an entry-level model that will “attract new and even younger customers to the premium brand.” They went on to add that the Cajun will be come with “typical Porsche features such as light weight, ease of handling and agility.”
The Cajun name tag is still a ‘working title’, and the new SUV is expected to compete against the Audi Q5 and the expected X4 from the BMW staple. The Porsche Cajun is the second model to get the board approval, following the Porsche 918 Spyder which was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show. This could be in response to Porsche’s goal of selling over 150,000 vehicles worldwide by 2014, up from the 81,000 units it sold last year.
The Porsche Cajun, on arrival, will be the fifth model in the Porsche lineup which includes the Porsche Cayman, Boxster, Cayenne and the 911.
