December 1, Happy Hanukkah - It's the first day of the festival of lights in Forest Hills and there is a lot to do. You can choose from any number of Hanukkah events across the community. You can head over to a ceremonial menorah lighting or celebrate a little more privately, and it's all available right on our events listing page and in our Hanukkah round-up.

In addition to all the holiday preparation and celebrating that's happening across your neighborhood, there's also quite a bit going on with everyone from police to the schools.

Here are five things you need to know today:

1. Check in with our Hanukkah celebration round-up from yesterday to see some of the larger events across Forest Hills and Queens.

2. Looking for some winter sports? The Forest Hills High School wrestling team is making its PSAL debut at Bathgate in The Bronx.

4. Help your kids learn and grow with Book Buddies at the North Forest Park Library on Metropolitan Avenue.

'Green Hornet' Star Edward Furlong Jailed - Troubled former teen star Edward Furlong was thrown in jail Tuesday for allegedly violating a restraining order against his estranged wife, just hours after attending the Hollywood premiere of his new film, “The Green Hornet.” Furlong was arrested during a progress hearing Tuesday morning over the 100-yard, three-year restraining order taken out by Rachael Kneeland, People reported. The “Terminator 2” star was found to have violated the order last month by coming within 50 yards of Kneeland and was booked on $75,000 bail, the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office told news outlets.
