Advocare Independence Bowl - Four Yellow Jackets will not play in the bowl due to academic issues, while three Yellow Jackets will sit out the first half after missing curfew. Starting safety Mario Edwards and starting wide receiver Stephen Hill, along with reserve outside linebacker Anthony Barnes and reserve defensive end Robert Hall, will not play in the bowl. Starting outside linebacker Anthony Egbuniwe and reserve defensive backs Michael Peterson and Louis Young will sit out the first half. What's more, quarterback Josh Nesbitt is not expected to play after breaking his arm in the November 4 contest against Virginia Tech.

Keeping in mind that Tevin Washington has played well since taking over the starting job for the final three games of the season, the suspensions and key injury could tip the scale in Air Force's favor if it wasn't already leaning that way before. The Yellow Jackets rank first in rushing offense, averaging 327 yards per game, and Air Force ranks second, averaging 317.9 yards per game. Georgia Tech has won all three times these teams have met, although the last time the two played was in 1979.

Man Hits Teen on Plane Over iPhone - Police say a man on a Southwest Airlines flight from Las Vegas punched a teenager who refused to turn off his iPhone as the plane approached the Boise airport. Officers arrested 68-year-old Russell E. Miller, of Boise, on suspicion of misdemeanor battery Tuesday. He has been released from jail on bond. Witnesses told police the 15-year-old was playing games and listening to music on his cell phone when flight attendants instructed passengers to turn off their electronic devices because the plane was landing. Witnesses told police that when the teen didn't respond, Miller got angry and punched the boy in the arm. Miller says he "tapped" the teen on the shoulder after he refused to turn off the phone. Contactless Debit Cards - Contactless debit cards will make their formal debut in Canada next year with the launch of Interac Flash from Acxsys Corp.’s Interac Association, Canada’s national debit network. Interac’s first two Flash issuers are Scotiabank and RBC Royal Bank, which will roll out their first contactless cards next summer. The first acquirer is TD Merchant Services, a unit of Toronto-Dominion Bank. More issuers and acquirers are on the way, an Interac spokesperson tells Digital Transactions News, though no announcements have been made yet. Interac and the banks tested Flash this summer at some high-volume, small-ticket merchants in downtown Toronto.
