After registering the lowest public vote of the remaining finalists, favourites One Direction finished third in the competition.
X Factor 2010 Winner
With Matt Cardle and Rebecca Ferguson remaining, each took to the stage to perform their respective winning songs; Cardle singing a cover of Biffy Clyro’s ‘Many of Horror’, with Liverpudlian Ferguson following with a rendition of Duffy’s ‘Distant Dreamer’.
Following a tally of the last public vote, it was announced Matt had won the much sought after prize – a £1 million contract with SyCo/Sony Music.
The X Factor hits the US on FOX in 2011.
