PSP Phone Benchmarks - Asked for, answered, and disappointed. Last time we saw a clear video of the PSP Phone (aka Sony Ericsson Z1), I noted that I wanted to see them launch Neocore and the Playstation apps when I saw them in the app tray. Soon after, we got a short video showing the Playstation app, but nothing more than the file browser inside. Now, we’ve gotten a look at the Neocore benchmark, and it’s a little disappointing.

For reference, my Nexus One usually clocks in at around 28FPS in Neocore, while the Nexus S was recently benchmarked at 55FPS. The PSP Phone clocks in at just over 24FPS.

Granted, this is likely not finalized hardware or software for the phone, but it’s still a bit disappointing showing for a phone that will be first and foremost judged on its gaming prowess. There is always a chance that games specifically designed for the phone will run better, but again, we’ll have to wait and see on that.
