Inside the issue is an article about the religious leader entitled ‘Bishop Eddie Long at the Center of the Scandal that Rocked the Church World.’ Readers believe the article downplays the accusations of sexual coercion against the preacher brought by four male members of his New Birth Missionary Church, according to Afro.com.

The four men, Spencer LeGrande, 22, Jamal Parris, 23, Anthony Flagg, 21, and Maurice Robinson, 20, all filed suits alleging Long coerced them into sexual relationships when they were teenage members of his congregation.
Gospel Today’s publisher, Teresa Hairston released a statement on the publication’s Website defending the magazine’s choice to feature Long, saying “…The mainstream press has painted a hideous picture; some have even called for Long’s resignation!”
The statement also noted that the article does not examine the legal issues surrounding Long, but gives the bishop’s story a “BIBLICAL perspective” to balance that which the mainstream has put forth.
