For years, TV viewers dreaded the month 0f May because we knew that once our favorite shows ended, reruns would invade our living rooms for the next several months. Thanks to the addition of original programming on the cable channels, the summer months have emerged as a viable television season -- and made us viewers very, very happy. Oddly enough, the cable channels do very well during the summer months with new drama series, while the networks tend to struggle with anything other than reality programming.
Last summer, ABC Family brought us Pretty Little Liars, a drama based on a series of young adult books by Sara Shepard. The series was an instant hit and within a few weeks of the premiere, the network decided to add an additional 12 episodes to season one. The first half of season one was a whirlwind of suspense, blackmail, infidelity, romance, attempted murder -- and course, Allison's death, which was the murder that started it all.
