The New York Times reports that lead actress Natalie Mendoza, who plays the villain Arachne, is currently plotting an exit strategy with producers and an official announcement is expected as soon as Jan. 4.
After suffering a concussion at the first preview performance, Mendoza's participation in "Spider-Man" has seemed precarious at best. She's addressed her struggle on her Facebook page.
"Thank goodness I had such a brilliant neurologist who made sure I recovered properly," she writes. "Nice to be almost back to normal ... almost anyway."
Mendoza's representatives declined to address the rumors, but she has been absent from previews since the Dec. 20 incident that sent one aerial stuntman to the ICU.
A total of four players have suffered injuries on the "Spider-Man" set.
