For Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban that means the Bowl Championship Series.
Cuban tells Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com that he'd like to topple the BCS with his own version of a college football playoff.
"The more I think about it, the more sense it makes..." Cuban said. "You can do something the whole country wants done."
Cuban, who wants a 12-team or 16-team field, says he's already talked to two athletic directors and will be pursuing college presidents and state senators. The Mavs owner would not eliminate bowl games but would put big money into the playoff.
"Put $500 million in the bank and go to all the schools and pay them money as an option," said Cuban, who thinks he'd need three or four years to put his plan into play. "Say, 'Look, I'm going to give you X amount every five years. In exchange, you say if you're picked for the playoff system, you'll go.' "
