The controversial and pugnacious advocate for upsetting the status quo in America's public schools pulled no punches during a brief pre-taped appearance with the queen of daytime television.
"I am going to start a revolution," Rhee declared. "I am going to start a movement in this country on behalf of the nation's children."
As part of the rollout for her new organization—dubbed "Students First"—Rhee landed on the cover of Newsweek magazine.
Rhee quit her job at the top of D.C.'s public schools when her mentor, Mayor Adrian Fenty, lost his bid for reelection this autumn. Rhee said that her decision to leave prompted loads of mail and phone calls from parents, students and teachers who begged her not to stop fighting for education reform.
