Mikayla Francis Passes Away - Mikayla Francis, the young cancer sufferer who stole the hearts of Victorians when she told her family she feared being forgotten, has died.

Little Mikayla died this morning from the advanced liver cancer that had failed to respond to treatment, just days after celebrating her seventh birthday.

She died at 8.30am at home with her family beside her.

It follows the Victorian community rallying around Mikayla and her family, helping the young girl realise she would never be forgotten, with a huge early Christmas and birthday party.

Hundreds of people were inspired to post comments at heraldsun.com.au after hearing her story.

Her father, Andrew Francis, prompted the response when he related how she kept wrapping her arms around her parents, saying: "Don't forget me, don't forget me when I'm gone.

The response, and brave Mikayla's courage and dignity, triggered a flood of support.

Well-wishers rallied with jumping castles, pony rides and caterers for the birthday party.

And while 500 were expected, about 1000 friends, family and community turned out on November 27.

Today, her family and the Cockatoo community is grieving her loss.

Mr Francis created the party to make Mikayla realise that hundreds of people loved and cared for her, and said the result was beyond his dreams.

Man Hits Teen on Plane Over iPhone - Police say a man on a Southwest Airlines flight from Las Vegas punched a teenager who refused to turn off his iPhone as the plane approached the Boise airport. Officers arrested 68-year-old Russell E. Miller, of Boise, on suspicion of misdemeanor battery Tuesday. He has been released from jail on bond. Witnesses told police the 15-year-old was playing games and listening to music on his cell phone when flight attendants instructed passengers to turn off their electronic devices because the plane was landing. Contactless Debit Cards - Contactless debit cards will make their formal debut in Canada next year with the launch of Interac Flash from Acxsys Corp.’s Interac Association, Canada’s national debit network. Interac’s first two Flash issuers are Scotiabank and RBC Royal Bank, which will roll out their first contactless cards next summer. The first acquirer is TD Merchant Services, a unit of Toronto-Dominion Bank. More issuers and acquirers are on the way, an Interac spokesperson tells Digital Transactions News, though no announcements have been made yet. Interac and the banks tested Flash this summer at some high-volume, small-ticket merchants in downtown Toronto.
