Jonathan Brookins Is The Ultimate Fighter - Jonathan Brookins nearly saw the biggest opportunity of his life turn into his worst nightmare. Thankfully for the lightweight, he realized the face-to-fist defense he was executing in the 1stRound against Michael Johnson in the finals of “The Ultimate Fighter 12″ wasn’t gonna cut it.

Brookins took a unanimous decision win over his fellow TUF 12 teammate, despite eating countless shots to the dome in the opening round. Johnson appeared well on his way to pulling off the upset, but Brookins bounced back to convincingly outwrestle Johnson in the final two stanzas.

“I was stunned,” Brookins said of the opening five minutes. “Typical Michael Johnson, just beating up on people.”

Brookins showed exceptional submission skills on the reality show, and it was clear that the canvas was where he’d capture the six-figure UFC contract on Saturday.

Although he swept the 155-pound tournament, the up-and-comer’s standup game leaves a lot to be desired. Thankfully, the humble 25-year-old was the first to admit a long road lies ahead. He’s off to a solid UFC start, nonetheless.

“You know, my game’s still got a lot to improve on, Brookins said. “I want to just invite everybody to come along for the ride with me because I got a lot of improvements to do. So if they’re with me, I’d love to improve with you guys watching.”

Man Hits Teen on Plane Over iPhone - Police say a man on a Southwest Airlines flight from Las Vegas punched a teenager who refused to turn off his iPhone as the plane approached the Boise airport. Officers arrested 68-year-old Russell E. Miller, of Boise, on suspicion of misdemeanor battery Tuesday. He has been released from jail on bond. Witnesses told police the 15-year-old was playing games and listening to music on his cell phone when flight attendants instructed passengers to turn off their electronic devices because the plane was landing. Witnesses told police that when the teen didn't respond, Miller got angry and punched the boy in the arm. Miller says he "tapped" the teen on the shoulder after he refused to turn off the phone. Contactless Debit Cards - Contactless debit cards will make their formal debut in Canada next year with the launch of Interac Flash from Acxsys Corp.’s Interac Association, Canada’s national debit network. Interac’s first two Flash issuers are Scotiabank and RBC Royal Bank, which will roll out their first contactless cards next summer. The first acquirer is TD Merchant Services, a unit of Toronto-Dominion Bank. More issuers and acquirers are on the way, an Interac spokesperson tells Digital Transactions News, though no announcements have been made yet. Interac and the banks tested Flash this summer at some high-volume, small-ticket merchants in downtown Toronto.
