"It's the time of year that so much more is intensified. There is a lot more activity. There could be triggers of believing that you are far away from home or you don't have the family that you want to have," said Hargraves.
She also said sometimes people need to seek the help from a professional.
Fight Holiday Depression
"The friend is great to have, but sometimes the friend is going to tell you what they think you want to hear. A professional is going to tell you what you need to hear to help you get better. That's the motive behind counseling," said Hargraves.
The Idaho Falls Police Department said they receive a spike in suicide threat calls during the holiday season every year.
"If there is someone feeling suicidal out there or depressed you know there are suicidal hot lines they can call. They can also call the Idaho Falls Police Department or any other police agency for that matter," said Sgt. Phil Grimes with the Idaho Falls Police Department.
The Idaho Falls police also said they encourage family members to contact them if they are concerned about a loved one.
