Nic Ramos Student Pays for Tuition in Dollar Bills - A Sacramento native paid his $14,000 tuition to the University of Colorado, Boulder in $1 bills.

Nic Ramos says he's trying to get people thinking about the increasing cost of an education. The $14,000 out-of-state tuition is for one semester at his university.

"It was quit a sight and they said that nobody had even payed in ones before," Ramos told KDVR in Colorado.

Ramos calling his mom, Kathleen Ramos, in Sacramento to tell her about his unusual way of paying his tuition.

"Little surprised that he would go to those lengths and then at the same time not surprised because Nic has always been different," said Kathleen Ramos.

What started out as a cool idea for Nic Ramos turned into something bigger: a way to put the cost of education on the table.

"Tuition has gone up so much and there are a lot of kids who don't have a family who can send them to school. There are a lot of children who have to pay for their own education, who have to take out loans," says Kathleen Ramos.

Man Hits Teen on Plane Over iPhone - Police say a man on a Southwest Airlines flight from Las Vegas punched a teenager who refused to turn off his iPhone as the plane approached the Boise airport. Officers arrested 68-year-old Russell E. Miller, of Boise, on suspicion of misdemeanor battery Tuesday. He has been released from jail on bond. Witnesses told police the 15-year-old was playing games and listening to music on his cell phone when flight attendants instructed passengers to turn off their electronic devices because the plane was landing. Witnesses told police that when the teen didn't respond, Miller got angry and punched the boy in the arm. Miller says he "tapped" the teen on the shoulder after he refused to turn off the phone. Contactless Debit Cards - Contactless debit cards will make their formal debut in Canada next year with the launch of Interac Flash from Acxsys Corp.’s Interac Association, Canada’s national debit network. Interac’s first two Flash issuers are Scotiabank and RBC Royal Bank, which will roll out their first contactless cards next summer. The first acquirer is TD Merchant Services, a unit of Toronto-Dominion Bank. More issuers and acquirers are on the way, an Interac spokesperson tells Digital Transactions News, though no announcements have been made yet. Interac and the banks tested Flash this summer at some high-volume, small-ticket merchants in downtown Toronto.
