X Factor 2010

X Factor 2010 - Matt Cardle is one of the most backed X Factor finalists in one of the closest-fought finals in the show's history, MailOnline can reveal.

The former painter and decorator is the odds on favourite to win with some of the shortest odds ever seen, with bookies not budging much between 4/5 and 5/6 - despite fears his voice might not hold out in tonight's show.

Any chance of Cher landing the top prize seems to be slipping further from her grasp however with her odds lengthening to 33/1 at most outlets - having started at 7/2 after her first audition - though William Hill and Paddy Power have her at 20/1.

Behind her in third favourite position - but not by much either - are One Direction, who are mostly listed at 3/1. However, the shortest odds on offer are just 5/2.

In fact, there's so little to choose between the finalists that Simon Cowell is set to give them all a record deal, as reported by MailOnline yesterday.

However, despite the bookies - and Mr Cowell - seeing it as almost too tight to call, Matt is said to still be worried this morning whether he's going to be well enough to sing.

The 27-year-old has been suffering from laryngitis and 'flu all week, and was BANNED from even talking between rehearsals as XFactor vocal coach Savan Kotecha put him on 'vocal rest'.

But he still has the diver to win, saying last night: 'It's been a long slog getting here and I definitely want to win. This is one of my worst moments not knowing whether I can sing in the final or not.'

He's set to perform tonight with Rihanna, though the title of the song they're going to duet on is being kept tightly under wraps.

Matt said: 'I can't say what the song is but I absolutely love it. When I found out I was singing with Rihanna, it was the one I wanted to do.'

Man Hits Teen on Plane Over iPhone

Man Hits Teen on Plane Over iPhone - Police say a man on a Southwest Airlines flight from Las Vegas punched a teenager who refused to turn off his iPhone as the plane approached the Boise airport. Officers arrested 68-year-old Russell E. Miller, of Boise, on suspicion of misdemeanor battery Tuesday. He has been released from jail on bond. Witnesses told police the 15-year-old was playing games and listening to music on his cell phone when flight attendants instructed passengers to turn off their electronic devices because the plane was landing. Witnesses told police that when the teen didn't respond, Miller got angry and punched the boy in the arm. Miller says he "tapped" the teen on the shoulder after he refused to turn off the phone. He told the Idaho Statesman that he may have "overreacted," but that he did not punch the teen. Man Hits Teen on Plane Over iPhone

Contactless Debit Cards

Contactless Debit Cards - Contactless debit cards will make their formal debut in Canada next year with the launch of Interac Flash from Acxsys Corp.’s Interac Association, Canada’s national debit network. Interac’s first two Flash issuers are Scotiabank and RBC Royal Bank, which will roll out their first contactless cards next summer. The first acquirer is TD Merchant Services, a unit of Toronto-Dominion Bank. More issuers and acquirers are on the way, an Interac spokesperson tells Digital Transactions News, though no announcements have been made yet. Interac and the banks tested Flash this summer at some high-volume, small-ticket merchants in downtown Toronto. The spokesperson expects national merchants will be making formal announcements about acceptance. “There’s a lot of excitement in the merchant community,” she says. “Merchants are looking for that faster throughput.” In a statement, the Retail Council of Canada endorsed the new card. “Interac Flash is a welcome and needed ...
