The Onondaga County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday investigators were searching a wooded area near the Woodard Industrial Park in Clay, N.Y., where they say Watson's cell phone was last used, according to CBS affiliate WTVH.
Watson, who is from Liverpool, a Syracuse suburb, was last seen on Friday at her home, and hasn't been heard from since, reports WTVH. Acquaintances say it's uncharacteristic of her to leave without telling someone.
Aubrey Ellis has known Jenni-Lyn Watson since pre-school. On Monday night, she joined several volunteers to hand out here picture, says the station.
We have no information about where she is, we don't know where she could be," said Ellis. "The more people that know, the quicker we can bring her home."
According to the CBS affiliate, on Monday the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department searched the area around Waton's home from the ground and the air.
"At this point it's a missing person but we're looking at all aspects of what it could be and we want to see Jenni-Lyn home safely," said Undersheriff Warren Darby.
A vigil for the missing girl was scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa., where Watson is a student.
