Jean-Guy Laquerre Santa Collection

Jean-Guy Laquerre Santa Collection - Quebec can get pretty cold and lonely in the Winter especially out in Boucherville where Jean-Guy Laquerre a 74 year old native Quebecour lives with his collection of 25,189 pieces of Santa memorabilia. With that many Santa’s around I don’t think getting cold or lonely will be an issue!

The collection is thought to be the world’s biggest and for that reason he will be featured in the 2011 edition of the Guinness Book. I doubt anyone will contest this collection for a while.

Jean-Guy Laquerre Santa Collection

Jean-Guy has always been a collector starting with stamps as a kid and onto wine labels in the 60′s but when his aunt gave him a papier mache Santa dated back to 1910 in 1988 Jean-Guy started his monstrous collection.

The collection is on display in his basement for members of his collector’s club and friends and relatives. Maybe if you are nearby and you contact him he may make an exception!

I just thought this story was a bit crazy and hilarious! He really can’t be called a Scrooge for not being in the Christmas spirit!

Jeresy Shore Star Spin-Off

Jeresy Shore Star Spin-Off - Here's the situation - DJ Pauly D got the first "Jersey Shore" spinoff.

He beat out Snooki, The Situation and JWoww, who were all negotiating for spinoff programs.

MTV announced the deal with Pauly D (real name: Paul DelVecchio) yesterday, saying it has already filmed a pilot in his home state of Rhode Island, but no air date has been set yet.

Jeresy Shore Star Spin-Off

"At the heart of Jersey Shore is the unique and genuine cast and Pauly D truly embodies both qualities," MTV programming Vice President Chris Linn said in a statement.

"He has distinguished himself onscreen as the fun-loving, well-coiffed and dependable guy you can't help but want to hang out with," Linn said. "We know viewers are curious about his life away from the shore, and we look forward to exploring new possibilities around that."

Reports of the spinoff first emerged in September, when DelVecchio was rumored to be shooting his pilot.

Though he did not confirm the news at the time, he was quick to reach out to his fans on Wednesday.

Cindy Barshop New York House Wife

Cindy Barshop New York House Wife - At long last, Bravo revealed the newest New York Housewife—day spa owner Cindy Barshop. Bravo has been notoriously quiet over who would replace ex-housewife Bethenny Frankel, who left the show for her own series, “Bethenny Getting Married,” which transitioned into “Bethenny Ever After."

Barshop runs the Completely Bare day-spa chain, which has boasted such clientele as “Jersey Shore”’s Pauly D, and The Situation. According to the Post, they’ll make an appearance in the February premier.

But, just how does one land a coveted spot on “The Real Housewives,” the debated “Who’s Who” list for the rich, the fabulous, and those who wish to harbor bourgeoning singer/songwriter aspirations?

First off, it helps to be friends with the other housewives. “[Barshop] has an organic connection to the cast,” Bravo VP of Programming Christian Barcellos told the Post. Meaning, she has good connections to New York society’s elite like Kelly Bensimon and Ramona Singer.

Second, it helps to bring something new to the table. "This show is about self-actualized women,” Barcellos says. “I think viewers will enjoy getting to know and see [Barshop]." Barshop, as an entrepreneur, fits the mold perfectly.

Oprah U.S. Too Smart for Palin

Oprah U.S. Too Smart for Palin - Oprah Winfrey thinks U.S. is too smart for a Sarah Palin presidency. Oprah, who declined to discuss politics on her show throughout 2008 because of her staunch support of President (then Senator) Barack Obama, and whose interview with Sarah Palin is a real yawner, thinks that America will fall in love with the former Alaskan governor.

"I don't know her so I can't speak to [whether or not she'll be a candidate]. But I would say that America's going to fall in love with her from [her reality series, Sarah Palin's Alaska]. When I saw that first episode, I went, 'Whoa! She is charming and very likable.'"

Fight Holiday Depression

Fight Holiday Depression - For most people, the holidays are a time for joyous occasions. It is also the time of year when many get depressed. Dr. Gracie Hargraves said Thursday that memories of lost love ones and being alone are factors that can make this time of year especially hard.

"It's the time of year that so much more is intensified. There is a lot more activity. There could be triggers of believing that you are far away from home or you don't have the family that you want to have," said Hargraves.

She also said sometimes people need to seek the help from a professional.

"The friend is great to have, but sometimes the friend is going to tell you what they think you want to hear. A professional is going to tell you what you need to hear to help you get better. That's the motive behind counseling," said Hargraves.

The Idaho Falls Police Department said they receive a spike in suicide threat calls during the holiday season every year.

"If there is someone feeling suicidal out there or depressed you know there are suicidal hot lines they can call. They can also call the Idaho Falls Police Department or any other police agency for that matter," said Sgt. Phil Grimes with the Idaho Falls Police Department.

The Idaho Falls police also said they encourage family members to contact them if they are concerned about a loved one.

WJHG reports that the auction ended 7:55 p.m. Wednesday with a winning bid of $13,100 from a Virginia man who asked to remain anonymous. That bid was matched by Brahmin, the company that made the purse, meaning that the charity will receive a total of $26,200.

Christmas Traditions Around World

Christmas Traditions Around World - People around the world gather together during this time of year to celebrate Christmas with family traditions and old and new. But what about those Christmas traditions that people do every year and do not even know where they actually came from?

Here is some history behind some popular Christmas traditions, and why they've become holiday mainstays:

Christmas Traditions Around World

• Mistletoe – The mistletoe hasn't always been the leaves and berries that you avoid at the annual office Christmas party. Time explained that the mistletoe became a Christmas tradition during the Victorian era when it was believed that if you kissed someone underneath the mistletoe it would result in marriage. This stemmed from the Celtic legend that the mistletoe brought good luck and increased fertility.

• Poinsettias – Whether they are displayed in your place of worship or decorating a store front window, the poinsettia can be seen all over in December. In another legend dating to the 16th century, FoxNews.com reported that a young Mexican girl was in need of a gift to give at her church and grabbed a bunch of plants on the side of the road. When she brought them to the altar, they bloomed into a bright red color. The metaphor is that this represents the suffering of Christ on the cross.

Unique Family Christmas Traditions

Unique Family Christmas Traditions - Each year, Beth Nettles lights a Christmas tree in the window in memory of her mother.

Dorothy Cromer Taylor wasn’t one to decorate much, herself.

But she wanted a small, white, artificial tree. Once her children were grown and gone, she found one.

“I remember when she bought it, she couldn’t wait to tell me about it,” said Nettles, 57. “It was just very special to her.”

Unique Family Christmas Traditions

The tree, dating to the early 1970s, was displayed each Christmas in the window of Taylor’s Irmo home.

In 1992, she died, and the older of her two daughters inherited the tabletop tree.

“For several years, I really didn’t know what to do with it,” Nettles said.

Then she realized the four-foot tree would fit nicely in her second-story bay window.

Nettles lives in a Queen Anne Victorian home in Camden. Unlike her mother, she enjoys decorating for the holidays.

One of her hobbies has become collecting vintage Christmas ornaments for her mother’s little tree. She looks for pre-World War II ornaments that would have been in vogue when her mother was a girl.

“I’m just enchanted with them,” Nettles said.

The tree has become a little bedraggled over the years. Its white arms have turned a shade of amber.
