Digital TV Antenna - WGHP/Fox 8 will turn off its channel-8 digital transmitter on Monday, switching over permanently to its channel 35 transmitter. After last June's digital transition, WGHP found that many of its viewers could not pick up its digital VHF signal on channel 8, either because the signal was not strong enough or because many customers had the wrong type of antennas for VHF broadcasts. WGHP got "special temporary authority" from the Federal Communications Commission to run its signal on both channel 8 and UHF station channel 35 while it figured out whether it could boost the VHF signal or whether it would need to switch to UHF permanently. The station found that some customers, especially ones without outside antennas, could not pick up the VHF digital signal. The other stations in the market broadcast on UHF. Mark Linkous - Rock singer Mark Linkous, frontman with US band Sparklehorse, has killed himself, according to a statement from his family to Rolling Stone magazine. "It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and family member Mark Linkous took his own life today," the family said. His four acclaimed Sparklehorse albums led him to be regarded by many as a hero of the US alternative rock scene. His work included collaborations with Tom Waits, PJ Harvey and Danger Mouse. His family said in the statement: "We are thankful for his time with us and will hold him forever in our hearts. May his journey be peaceful, happy and free. Adam Gadahn - Adam Gadahn, who was brought up in California, describes Major Nidal Hasan as a pioneer who should serve as a role model for other Muslims. He urges Muslims in America to carry out attacks against US and Western targets. Major Hasan has been charged with the murder of 13 people after a shooting spree at the Fort Hood base in Texas. He has been described as a devout Muslim whose commitment to the army may have been broken by his opposition to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Betty Nguyen Leaving CNN - Betty Nguyen Leaving Cnn, Betty Nguyen is leaving CNN and joining the network as a full-time CBS News Correspondent as of March 11th. Nguyen will anchor “CBS Morning News” and report for “The Early Show.” Nguyen joined CNN in 2004 and is an anchor for the weekend editions of “CNN Newsroom.” “She has a great on-air presence and brings a tremendous amount of hard news reporting and anchoring experience to CBS News,” said CBS News and Sports president Sean McManus in a release.
